THE FUTURE OF WORK: EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCE

EX is companies and their people working together to create personalized, authentic experiences that ignite passion and tap into purpose to strengthen individual, team, and company performance (Dhingra et al., 2018).

EX can be defined as a holistic view of employees’ perceptions of the workplace. Employees’ perceptions are influenced by their experiences, from recruitment to retirement (Berson et al., 2017).

What are The Components of Employee Experience?

  1. Activities (Interactions employees have with their assigned tasks)
  2. Community (Interaction employees have with others in their work setting)
  3. Environment (Interactions employees have with the tangible environment)
In developing employee experience design, the following service design principles should be adopted…
  1. Human-Centered (EX design starts by putting people first.It focuses on identifying new offering or ways to connect into employees’ lives).
  2. Innovative(EX design involves cycles of divergent and convergent thinking and iterative learning. It considers the possibilities in future scenarios).
  3. Holistic(It examines how all experience and technology fitinto the totality of employees’ professional and personal lives).
  4. Collaborative and Co-Creative (EX design is all about creating and solving jointly. It keeps employees involvedthroughout the process).
  5. Realistic (It involves prioritizing that which matters most employeesand the moments of interaction that have the most influential effect on emotions, behavior and engagement to the employer).
  6. Multi-Disciplinary (EX design overcomes organizational partitions. It unifies and aligns internal teams to develop an experience).
